Neuartiger molekularbiologischer Test für das prächirurgische Screening erkennt auch neu entdeckte MRSA-Stämme

BALTIMORE, 6. September 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- BD Diagnostics, eine Sparte von BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), gab heute bekannt, dass der CE-gekennzeichnete BD MAX™ StaphSR-Test mit eXTended-Detektionstechnologie ab sofort in Europa verfügbar ist und mit dem vollständig automatisierten BD MAX™-System genutzt werden kann. Der mit eXTended-Erkennung ausgestattete Test kann neben Staphylococcus-aureus-Bakterien auch methicillinresistente Staphylococcus-aureus-Bakterien (MRSA) in Nasenabstrichen von Patienten mit hohem Kolonisationsrisiko bestimmen. Dies ist der einzige zurzeit auf dem Marktl erhältliche molekularbiologische Test, der neben dem ausschließlich in MRSA auftretenden  MREJ-Sequenzen auch  Antibiotikaresistenzgene des Typs mecA und die kürzlich entdeckte mecC-Genkassette bestimmen kann.[i]

Postoperative Infektionen (POI) sind die häufigste Form der therapieassoziierten Infektion bei OP-Patienten.[ii] Derartige Infektionen sind mit einem verlängerten Krankenhausaufenthalt von sieben bis zehn Tagen verbunden und können Kosten von bis zu 29.000 USD pro Krankheitsepisode verursachen.[iii] Patienten mit POI weisen ein zwei bis elf Mal höheres Sterberisiko als OP-Patienten ohne POI auf.[iv] Die Präsenz von S. aureus im Nasenbereich ist ein klar abgegrenzter Risikofaktor, der bei OP-Patienten eine anschließende Infektion verursachen kann. Ein rasches Screening und die gezielte Dekolonisation reduzieren die POI und verbessern den klinischen und wirtschaftlichen Nutzen von OP-Patienten.[v],[vi]
