MinuteClinic Opens Its First Walk-in Medical Clinic in Southwest Virginia

WOONSOCKET, R.I., Aug. 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- MinuteClinic, the largest provider of retail-based medical clinics in the United States, has opened a new walk-in medical clinic inside the CVS/pharmacy store in Christiansburg at 550 N. Franklin St. With the opening, there are now 27 MinuteClinic locations in Virginia. Five additional MinuteClinic locations are expected to open in Southwest Virginia in September and October in Hollins, Lynchburg, Radford, Roanoke and Salem.

The clinics are open seven days a week, including weekday evenings.

MinuteClinic nurse practitioners specialize in family health care and can diagnose, treat and write prescriptions for common family illnesses such as strep throat and ear, eye, sinus, bladder and bronchial infections. Minor wounds, abrasions and joint sprains are treated, and common vaccinations such as influenza, tetanus, pneumonia and Hepatitis A & B are available at most locations. Walk-in camp, sports, college and DOT physicals are available daily. In addition, MinuteClinic administers a series of wellness services designed to help consumers identif
