MeridianRx Announces New Client
Date:12/29/2010

DETROIT, Dec. 29, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- MeridianRx is pleased to welcome Health Plan of Michigan as its newest client.

Effective January 1, 2011, MeridianRx will handle processing and payment of prescription drug claims for the Health Plan of Michigan (HPM). HPM is the state's largest managed Medicaid plan, serving over 280,000 Michigan residents.

MeridianRx, a Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) program, creates savings for clients by using pharmacy networks, negotiating with drug manufacturers and developing drug formularies. MeridianRx also helps clients improve quality by providing access to a live MeridianRx pharmacist, who can respond immediately to questions or concerns.

"Our relationship with MeridianRx will significantly improve our cost-effectiveness as well as the quality of care for our members," said Rene Acker, R.Ph., HPM's Director of Pharmacy. "Their innovative use of technology in online claims adjudication and messaging will not only control costs, but their commitment to clinical support gives our members better quality pharmacy services."
