Medstreaming Launches Fully Integrated Cardiovascular PACS and Certified EMR With Electronic Whiteboard at ACC
Date:4/4/2011

NEW ORLEANS, April 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Medstreaming, a leading provider of medical IT solutions, announced today the launch of a fully integrated Cardiovascular PACS and certified EMR with a web-based Cardiovascular Electronic Whiteboard.  With the introduction of these components to its Cardiovascular Information System (CVIS) platform, Medstreaming is the first in the market to offer a FDA-cleared PACS and EMR certified for meaningful use.  The announcement was made here at the 60th Annual Scientific Session of the American College of Cardiology, (ACC), April 2-5.

Medstreaming, which recently received Complete EHR Ambulatory certification for its Medical Office EMR, also announced the first installation of the Enterprise Electronic Whiteboard for ProHealth Care in Southeastern WI.  ProHealth Care is implementing the Medstreaming Electronic Whiteboard to manage real time scheduling of patient workflow in its cardiovascular diagnostic and interventional areas.

"We are very excited to use the Medstreaming Electronic Whiteboard, which we believe will allow us to more efficiently coordinate workflow and communication across our system by graphically displaying scheduling of our CV patients, procedures, staff, and physicians.  These efficiencies will also reduce operating costs," said Todd Anderson, Manager of Cardiovascular Interventional Services at ProHealth Care.

Providing a real-time patient management tool for cardiovascular staff to improve their procedural workflow, the Electronic Whiteboard fully integrates with the EMR components within the hospital enterprise.  In addition to capturing associated information pertaining to the clinical exam details and priority, resource details such as location, equipment, staff, can also be captured, with conflict detection mechanisms in place as needed.  The web-based user interface allows multiple customizable views, including views that are pivoted by time, location, and personnel.  This flexibility allows users to aggregate their views to best fit their individual workflows, all in real-time.

At the ACC meeting, Medstreaming is also introducing several major components to its current CVIS, including a powerful web-based data mining engine for Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI), as well as for ICAEL, ICAN, ICAVL accreditation.  Medstreaming's web-based data mining presents a highly efficient module offering hospitals and clinics the ability to run their business very effectively while maintaining a high degree of quality.

"Focused on enabling proactive and efficient patient care, we are very proud to launch the first fully integrated PACS and EMR system that has a single backend database.  This unified database enables wider integration of imaging interpretation and structured reporting with patient charting and evaluation workflow," said Wael Elseaidy, Medstreaming CEO.  "Using our cardiovascular CVIS cloud-based Medical Office Suite providers can address the problems associated with medical data fragmentation between PACS and EMR systems as well as demonstrate meaningful use."

By designing a single CVIS platform EMR/PACS system, Medstreaming's technology represents the next generation of cloud based CVIS where there is no need for expensive HL7 interfaces and complex IT infrastructure.  No longer will customers be required to purchase special interfaces to share data between traditional EMR and traditional PACS nor be limited by where and when you can access critical patient data.  With the Medstreaming platform, DICOM images and DICOM structured reporting will flow directly into EMR and scheduling data will be pushed automatically from an EMR to imaging acquisition devices in one unified worklist solution.

Medical Office EMR is a comprehensive suite of offerings focused on enabling proactive patient care and increasing the efficiency of healthcare delivery by providing clinical care solutions.  These include complete scheduling, provider dashboard and patient evaluation programs.  Prescription and lab orders can be electronically sent while enabling an up-to-date database for each individual patient record.  Patient reminders can be created based on diagnosis, medication, allergies, lab results and demographics.  Quality assurance measures are found throughout the system including the tracking of physician's meaningful use measures and report generation.

About Medstreaming

The medical industry has an extremely fragmented data management structure.  To address this fragmentation and to coordinate the structure for various clinical modality applications, PACS functions, information management systems, medical data mining, accreditation and reporting packages, one needs an integrative all-in-one platform that is both flexible and easily extensible.  Medstreaming's Medical Office platform is designed to address and bridge this gap, and is capable of doing so to meet the needs of a clinical practice (medical workflow) as well as an office practice (office workflow).  For further information, visit www.medstreaming.com.
