cialist ophthalmological services for children. They are committed to nurturing their staff's talent and professional interests, and demonstrated this commitment recently by providing full advanced studies scholarships to three employees. MELC also hosted a major international eye laser surgery conference, the 12th International Schwind Users Meet, that attracted some of the world's leading experts of eye laser surgery techniques; in all, over 150 delegates from 45 countries.

Mr. Sameer Al Awam, with over 20 years of experience in design, construction and consulting, and his wife, Dr. Maria Clara Arbelaez, a leading Cornea and Refractive Surgery Consultant, jointly founded MELC. Dr. Arbelaez has performed over 50,000 successful ophthalmic surgeries. Dr. Arbelaez is currently the Medical Director of MELC, leading an esteemed staff of ophthalmic technicians and other support staff. She has offered many award-winning presentations and lectures on ophthalmic surgeries, some of which are featured on the Publications tab.

The Treatments tab contains videos of many of the different types of eye surgeries performed by Dr. Arbelaez herself. Their Testimonials page features a unique video presentation of the practice and Dr. Arbelaez. An online contact form and hyperlinks to the practice's Twitter and Facebook pages round out this highly interactive site.
