MedShape Solutions, Inc. Named ATDC Graduate

ATLANTA, March 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- MedShape Solutions, the industry leader in innovative shape memory orthopedic devices, today announced that it has been named as a graduate of Georgia Tech's Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC). The company will be recognized at the 2011 ATDC Startup Showcase to be held Monday, May 9 at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center, where emerging technology company members and graduate members have the opportunity to exhibit their innovative technologies and achievements.

MedShape Solutions joins an impressive group of more than 120 accomplished ATDC graduate companies. Named as one of Forbes' Top Ten Incubators Changing the World in 2010, ATDC has fostered economic growth in Georgia by helping entrepreneurs launch and grow successful companies since 1980. Its member companies are made up of Georgia technology start-ups and university-based early stage companies. Each year, member companies that have achieved exceptional success are selected to become graduate members from the globally recognized incubator.

"MedShape's research and innovative shape memory products for restoring motion, removing pain and improving patient quality of life are revolutionary in the field of orthopedics," said Nina Sawczuk, General Manager of ATDC. "This success is representative of the achievements our member companies have enjoyed and the quality entrepreneurs and teams that our center continues to attract and assist."

MedShape's involvement with ATDC has been instrumental in the company's exemplary work in developing innovative shape memory medical devices used in a wide variety of orthopedic applications. Since October 2009, MedShape has successfully introduced both the Morphix™ Suture Anchor and the ExoShape™ Interference Fixation Device to the U.S. orthopedic market. By utilizing MedShape's proprietary PEEK Altera™ polymer, these devices can be easily inserted into the body in a temporary compressed shape, then triggered for deployment to the optimal functional shape. Initial applications of the technology involve the minimally invasive repair and reconstruction of injured or worn ligaments and tendons.

"We are honored to be named a graduate of an organization as prestigious as ATDC," said Kurt Jacobus, PhD, President & CEO of MedShape Solutions, Inc. "Their support was invaluable to the ultimate success of our technology and corporation."
