Over the years, Willie has been praised by his office leadership and fellow caregivers for his unparalleled dedication and commitment to his patient of more than 10 years. Selected from a pool of thousands of caregivers, Willie was nominated by his office leaders for consistently demonstrating superior commitment to excellence based on four key focus areas: compliance, patient safety, quality improvement, and operational strength.

"When we had our office meeting about who we would nominate for the Caregiver of the Year award, our decision to nominate Willie was immediate and unanimous," said Lillian O'Neill, District Director of Clinical Services at the Tampa Homecare office. "He is an outstanding, exemplary nurse and a true reflection of Maxim nurses throughout the nation."

"We are so honored to have the opportunity to pay tribute to our caregivers who are truly the heartbeat of Maxim," said Tim Kuhn , Chief Culture Officer. "Willie has been with Maxim for 23 years and is more than deserving of national Caregiver of the Year title. He is truly an inspiration to everyone in the entire organization and we are so grateful to have him in the Maxim family."

After learning that he won the national award, Willie stated, "I am so happy and overwhelmed. I do not want this day to end!"

A panel of judges from Maxim's headquarters hand-picked four finalists to represent the Company's top caregivers in each region (Northeast, Southeast, Central, and West) and be considered for the national Caregiver of the Year honor. The other three Regional representatives were Tammy Winklevoss of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (Northeast), Geraldine "Gerri" Giletto of Flint, Michigan (Central), and Warren Allen of Victorville, California (West).

The Caregiver of the Year Awards program was established in 2011 and is designed to acknowledge and celebrate Maxim's nurses and aides for the outstanding work they do to deliver quality patient-centered care and service to millions of the world's most medically fragile and chronically ill patients.

As the winner, Willie received a cash prize and a trip to Maxim's headquarters in Columbia, Maryland for the ceremony and meet-and-greet with Company leadership and employees. Nominations are currently underway for the next year's Caregiver of the Year Awards program.
