Magnalight Releases Handheld Infrared Light for Medical Applications

KEMP, Texas, Sept. 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Magnalight LEDLB-1-IR-110V infrared LED Light provides an easy to handle light for the application of infrared therapy to different body parts. Available in 850nm or 940nm wavelengths, the Magnalight portable, lightweight handheld infrared light enables patients to continue infrared therapy in the comfort of their own home.

The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) has identified a number of uses for LED lighting in skin-related therapies. Infrared LED lighting plays a significant biological role because it can modify the function of mitochondria within cells according to dermatologist Murad Alam, MD, FAAD, chief of the Section of Cutaneous Surgery and Aesthetic Surgery, and associate professor of dermatology, otolaryngology, and surgery at Northwestern University, Chicago. He goes on to say that infrared LEDs may be able to improve wound healing by reducing inflammation, and improve sun-damaged skin by accelerating the growth of new collagen.  The LEDLB-1-IR-110V handheld infrared light offers infrared light in portable, easy to apply form factor for patients in infrared therapy.
