MSD Completes Merger with First Choice Medical Supply

STOUGHTON, Mass., Dec. 9, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- MSD, a nationally recognized supplier of technology enabled medical device and supply chain solutions to alternate site health care facilities, announced today that it has completed its merger with First Choice Medical Supply ("First Choice"), a privately held national distributor of medical supplies and ancillary products servicing the skilled nursing and home health segments. We would like to welcome First Choice to the MSD family.

This compelling transaction will deliver significant and immediate value to MSD's customers and provides new opportunities for MSD's employees as part of a larger company.  First Choice is the ideal partner to extend the reach of MSD's technology and service offerings into the Long Term Care and Patient Home Delivery marketplaces.

Additionally, First Choice's customers will benefit from the broader products, technology, services, and supply chain capabilities of MSD. First Choice's customers will be advantaged by an expanded distribution footprint and a number of healthcare technology solutions designed to drive operational efficiencies and improve patient care.

"Together, MSD and First Choice will deliver exceptional customer service and a significantly enhanced suite of products and solutions," said Tom Burke, President and CEO of MSD. "The combination of First Choice and MSD will leverage the strengths and assets of the two companies, increasing the value we collectively bring to healthcare providers across the segments we serve. This, in turn, will enable our customers to strengthen their operating processes and focus on what matters most, improving outcomes in patient care."

"The entire First Choice Medical Supply team is very excited about merging with MSD. We see numerous opportunities to bring new products, services and expanded distribution capabilities to our customers in the Long Term Care, Home Health, Hospice and Patient Home Delivery markets while maintaining and improving the exceptionally high service levels that all our customers expect" said Steve Richardson, CEO of First Choice Medical Supply.

MSD delivers business process outsourcing solutions in the form of supply chain, medical device management, and technology solutions, which enable alternate site healthcare providers to strengthen their businesses and to focus on the best possible outcomes for their patients. MSD's customer-centric focus and commitment to quality shapes its entire suite of offerings, including an automated First Touch Resolution customer service, white glove delivery programs, and ISO process certifications. MSD's portfolio of services includes formulary development, online ordering, equipment management and tracking, patient direct delivery programs, and an accredited ambulatory pump program serving the oncology marketplace.
