MO BIO Laboratories, Inc. launches a new kit for isolation of viral nucleic acids from environmental samples

Carlsbad, Calif., Aug. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- MO BIO Laboratories, Inc., the leader in microbial, stool, plant, and soil nucleic acid purification, announces the launch of the PowerViral™ Environmental RNA/DNA Isolation Kit, for isolation of viral and bacterial nucleic acids from challenging samples such as stool, waste water, biosolids and gut material.

The PowerViral™ Environmental RNA/DNA Isolation Kit is the latest product in MO BIO's Power line of kits which contain patented Inhibitor Removal Technology® (IRT). IRT eliminates inhibitory substances often contained in stool and waste water, such as undigested plant material in the gut or heme compounds from lysed red blood cells, abundant in stool, resulting in pure nucleic acids that are ready to use in PCR, cDNA synthesis, RT-qPCR and more.

Features of the PowerViral™ Environmental RNA/DNA Isolation Kit include:

  • Optimized for challenging samples – Isolate viral and bacterial RNA & DNA from waste water, stool, biosolids and gut material
  • Inhibitor Removal Technology® – Eliminates inhibitory substances, including polysaccharides, lipids and heme for pure nucleic acids that are ready to use in downstream applications
  • Optional bead beating protocol– Available with Glass Bead Tubes for optimal lysis of solid samples and bacterial cells or without bead tubes for isolation of viral nucleic acids from liquid samples

The PowerViral™ Environmental RNA/DNA Isolation Kit is available now. For more information, visit the MO BIO website ( or call 800-606-6246.
