El registro comenzó en diciembre de 2009. Cuatro características de diseño claves del protocolo GARFIELD-AF aseguran una descripción completa y representativa de la AF:

  • Cinco cohortes secuenciales de los pacientes prospectivos y de nueva diagnosis, facilitando las comparaciones de los periodos de tiempo discretos y la descripción de la evolución de los tratamientos y resultados.
  • Los sitios de los investigadores se seleccionan de modo aleatorio con una asignación cuidadosa de los cuidados de AF estableciendo distribuciones, asegurando que la población de pacientes reclutados es representativa.
