CHARLOTTE, N.C., April 28, 2011 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Linet, a leading producer of innovative hospital bed technology, will be officially unveiling the revolutionary Multicare bed in the United States at the 2011 National Teaching Institute & Critical Care Exposition in Chicago, IL, May 3-5.

"We are excited to bring our proven technology to meet the changing needs of the American healthcare market," said Colin Bain, President and CEO of Linet Americas. "The Multicare high acuity hospital bed delivers innovative features aimed at simplifying a traditionally complex care environment."

Linet's Multicare platform has been the market-leading high acuity bed in Europe for the last 10 years.  The latest generation, now launching in the US, was developed in collaboration with a clinical advisory panel of over 150 nurses from 6 different countries.  "This diverse perspective has enabled the company to incorporate leading care practices from around the world into the Multicare," added Bain.

"Our research shows that nurses want a bed that helps them perform their job effectively and safely, as well as, help improve their care of the patient.  The Multicare was designed to assist nurses with their daily duties in a way that other beds simply couldn't address," said George Errington, a Vice President at Linet, and previously a Registered Nurse at both Cleveland Clinic and Carolinas Medical Center.

The Multicare includes unique features that automate many activities, while also helping improve patient care.  Some of these features include:

  • Platform Based Lateral Turn, to assist nurses with repositioning of patients in bed with less effort
  • I-Brake®, intelligent brake system that is automatically activated preventing any unintended motion
  • I-Drive®, 5th wheel which automatically engages during transport to make movement easier
  • Mobi-Lift®, assists with safe patient transfer and early patient ambulation for quicker recovery
  • Automatic Weighing System, captures and stores the patient's weight in any position and displays trending information over time

"Linet products are known for their low cost of ownership, and our new Multicare technology will follow our same value-oriented economic proposition for hospitals," concluded Bain.
