Lifescript Launches New Online Asthma Health Center

MISSION VIEJO, Calif., June 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Lifescript.com, a women's health and wellness website headquartered in Mission Viejo, Calif., has launched a new online Asthma Health Center designed to help women and children diagnose and manage asthma symptoms.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 18.7 million American adults and 7 million children have asthma, a chronic condition that makes it hard to breathe from inflammation in the lungs and airways. Nearly 3,500 deaths occur each year from asthma, and women are hardest hit, according to the National Center for Health Statistics.

"Fortunately, with medication and modest environmental controls, most asthma patients can manage and control the condition," says Edward Geehr, M.D., Lifescript Chief Medical Officer. "Learning to monitor symptoms and identify triggers is key."

It also features tips for raising asthmatic children, including helping them sleep through nighttime wheezing and making sure they have the proper medication at school.
