A pesar de ello, la doctora Blackburn advierte que no se esperen tratamientos mágicos a la vuelta de la esquina para la juventud eterna.  

"Todos los charlatanes del mundo hablan acerca de esto, de aquello y de lo otro para prolongar la juventud. Hay que tener miedo acerca de todo esto. Si quieres vivir más y tener un envejecimiento saludable, haz lo que tu madre te dijo, duerme bien, come bien, intenta mantener una buena actitud y apoyo social y haz algo de ejercicio".

Además de la doctora Blackburn, cuyo trabajo ganador del Premio Nobel exploró la biología del envejecimiento, estará la emisora y periodista Baronesa Joan Bakewell; la política y activista en campañas Baronesa Sally Greengross; el profesor John Appleby, responsable de economía del King's Fund; el profesor Tom Kirkwood, Decano de Envejecimiento de la University of Newcastle y el profesor Tim Eisen, profesor de Oncología Clínica de la University of Cambridge.

Presidido por Lord Robert Winston, profesor de Ciencias y Sociedad y Profesor Emérito de Estudios de Fertilidad del Imperial College London, el Astellas Innovation Debate 2013 explorará el papel de la innovación al tiempo que la sociedad se enfrenta a los retos vitales resultantes del envejecimiento de la población.
