„Ein zunehmender Anteil an Patienten der Radioonkologie wird zukünftig mit der SBRT behandelt werden, eine Therapieform, die für gewöhnlich lange Behandlungszeiten mit sich bringt", erklärt er. „Bei der Behandlung von Lungenkrebs oder Lebermetastasen gilt: je schneller man therapieren kann, desto geringer ist die Wahrscheinlichkeit einer Patientenbewegung, und desto präziser wiederum die Therapie. „Um in SBRT-Fällen die beste Modulation zu erreichen, ist der modernste Multilamellenkollimator notwendig", so Dr. Matzinger weiter. „Mit kleineren und schnelleren MLC-Lamellen können Techniken der Dosismodulation [IMRT] wie VMAT uns helfen, eine präzisere Dosisabgabe zu erreichen und die Risikoorgane besser zu schützen. Die Aussicht, diese beiden Funktionen in einem einzigen System unterzubringen, macht es für diese fortschrittlichen Behandlungsmethoden sehr vielversprechend."
