Kam Aims Uses Cloud Technology to Bring Affordable Solution to Freestanding Ambulatory Surgery Centers

AUGUSTA, Ga., July 26, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Medac, the parent company of Kam Technologies, and a leading provider of anesthesia billing, practice management, and technology solutions nationwide, has unveiled a progressive Anesthesia Information Management System (AIMS), giving freestanding Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs) an affordable alternative to the hardware-rich systems used by hospitals and hospital ASCs.Bijon Memar, Medac's Founder and President, stated, "As the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology furthers its initiative to encourage all health care providers to utilize Electronic Health Records, we remain committed to ensuring anesthesia providers using Medac as their business partner will have the tools they need to remain compliant and competitive."

Medac's Kam AIMS solution utilizes private cloud technology and does not require anesthesia providers to purchase equipment any more complex than a smart phone, as a device with a web browser is the only thing required to run the program.  Ed Townsend, Medac's Chief Information Officer, explained, "Using private cloud technology, Medac's AIMS system effectively eliminates the physician's costs of hardware, paper, and storage—all while making the provider more productive by significantly reducing redundant data entry.  The final product is a streamlined information flow satisfying data capture requirements for PQRS [Physician Quality Reporting System], SCIP [Surgical Care Improvement Project], and AQI [Anesthesia Quality Institute] Measures and providing robust reporting on everything from anesthesia start/stop time to OR utilization." The Kam AIMS system transmits and stores all PHI (patient health information) in a HIPAA-compliant manner and automatically integrates with the Kam Technologies Billing System.
