Interventional Spine®, Inc. Announces Issuance of Key Patents for the PERPOS® PLS System

IRVINE, Calif., Nov. 4, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Interventional Spine®, Inc. today announced that the United States Patent Office has issued U.S. Patent No. 7,824,429, entitled Method and Apparatus for Spinal Fixation.  This patent includes 43 claims that provide key patent protection for the Company's percutaneous transfacet-pedicular compression system for posterior spine fixation sold under the PERPOS® PLS System name and including the Company's BONE-LOK® implant.  This patent further strengthens the Company's patent portfolio for its key technologies, which also includes the patented CLASP® (Compression Locking Anchor with Secondary Purchase) Technology.

Interventional Spine®, Inc. is a leading innovator of percutaneous technologies in the treatment of back pain with over 10,000 patients being treated to date with the PERPOS® PLS System and the BONE-LOK® implant.

The PERPOS® PLS System is a complete set of instruments engineered for percutaneous implantation of the BONE-LOK® implant, which is a unique one-size fits all implant that enables single or multi-level bilateral fixation without rods and screws.  The BONE-LOK® implant with CLASP® Technology provides higher compression capabilities than standard devices which can lead to better stability during a fusion procedure of the lower spine.  It also provides intraoperative flexibility for surgeons.

Interventional Spine®, Inc. is a privately held company based in Irvine, California, that designs, develops and markets patented implantable devices for the spine that can be deployed via percutaneous techniques. Supported by the Company's unique product introduction systems, Interventional Spine's products provide benefits to patients, surgeons and hospitals alike.  More information on the Company and its products can be found at: FURTHER INFORMATION CONTACT:  Walter A.
