Mr. Benet succeeds Josep Manent who served as CEO since 1999.  Under Mr. Manent's leadership, IL re-engineered its product development process and released new and innovative products, resulting in growth more than double that of the industry.

"Josep and Ramon have worked very closely together over the last decade, bringing extraordinary experience, capabilities and commitment to IL," said Salvador Casases, Chief Executive Officer at Werfen Group, IL's parent company.  "Therefore, we have great confidence that with Ramon at the helm, we will continue to have strong guidance, strategic insight and direction to maintain IL's leadership position in the industry."

"I am extremely energized by this appointment," said Ramon Benet.  "IL is in a very strong position, both in the Critical Care and Hemostasis diagnostic markets.  Opportunities abound for us and I look forward to working with the senior leadership team to further our upward trajectory."

Mr. Benet has over twenty-five years of experience in marketing and sales in the in vitro diagnostics and consumer goods industries.  Prior to joining IL, he held marketing and sales positions of increasing responsibility for Centocor Diagnostics, Ortho Diagnostic Systems and Ciba-Geigy (now Novartis).  Mr. Benet holds a law degree from the University of Barcelona and an MBA from IESE, University of Navarra, both in Spain.
