Date:7/1/2010

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., July 1 /PRNewswire/ -- ZONARE Medical Systems, Inc. announced today that veteran medical imaging industry executive Jay D. Miller has joined the company as president and chief executive officer. ZONARE's former CEO, Donald J. Southard, has resigned.

"I want to thank Don for his strong contributions over the last six years. Under his leadership ZONARE has grown from a raw start-up to a significant competitor with industry-leading technology. I and the rest of the Board wish Don the best in his future endeavors," said Nader Naini, member of the board of directors and lead investor in ZONARE.

"We are very excited to have the opportunity to work with Jay, a strong executive with extensive operating experience and industry knowledge to lead ZONARE to the next level," said Naini. Miller, who most recently served as president and chief executive officer of Kappametrics, Inc., a company focused on developing novel product solutions for the combined EEG and MRI markets, brings with him over 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry at leading medical technology companies.

Prior to Kappametrics, Miller served as president and chief executive officer of Vital Images, Inc., a provider of advanced visualization and analysis solutions for medical professionals in diagnostic imaging and therapy planning. Before that, he served at General Electric Medical Systems, most recently in their cardiology segment, and at Siemens Medical Solutions in their Magnetic Resonance (MR) business. Miller holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Dartmouth College, a Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Virginia, and an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He won the Ernst & Young Minnesota and Dakotas Entrepreneur of the Year Award with Vincent Argiro in 2005 and the Frost and Sullivan Medical Imaging CEO of the Year Award in 2004.

"I'm thrilled to be joining ZONARE at such a critical time in its history to help take it to the next stage of growth," said Miller. "I believe that ZONARE's Zone Sonography™ technology has proven to demonstrate both premium performance and clinical convenience in all clinical settings, leading to enhanced diagnostic capabilities, more cost effective operation and increased value to providers. I look forward to working with ZONARE's talented group of employees, customers, business partners, and board of directors to help generate additional growth and long-term shareholder value," continued Miller.
