Behandlung zeigt Potenzial als sicheres und hochwirksames Mittel bei Gelenkknorpelverletzungen

Regentis Biomaterials gab heute neue klinische Daten bekannt, die die Wirksamkeit und Sicherheit des GelrinC-Implantats zur Knorpelbehandlung in verletzten Kniegelenken zeigen. Die klinischen Ergebnisse wurden beim International Cartilage Repair Society World Congress in Izmir, Türkei, vorgestellt und demonstrierten eine nachhaltige Verbesserung der Kniefunktion über 24 Monate nach der Implantation und eine erhebliche Schmerzreduzierung. Darüber hinaus zeigten die klinischen Sicherheitsdaten, dass Nebenwirkungen nur begrenzt auftraten und vergleichbar mit denen waren, die bereits bei ähnlichen Studien verzeichnet wurden, wobei keine schwerwiegenden Nebenwirkungen direkt mit dem Implantat in Verbindung gebracht wurden.

"Während die Erholungsquoten bei Knien, die mit Standardverfahren behandelt wurden, gleichbleibend sind und sogar im Lauf der Zeit abnehmen, zeigten GelrinC-Patienten im Verlauf der Studie eine konstante Verbesserung."

Der Gelenkknorpel ist das glatte, weiße Gewebe, das die Enden der Knochen an den Stellen bedeckt, an denen sie aufeinandertreffen und Gelenke formen. Im Knie kann dieser Knorpel durch einen schweren Sportunfall oder Sturz beschädigt werden. Es ist eine schmerzhafte Verletzung bei Patienten und die Reparatur des Gelenkknorpels ist eine Herausforderung für die behandelnden Ärzte, da das Gewebe nicht die Fähigkeit besitzt, sich selbst zu heilen.
