Heraeus to Sponsor Four Seminars at Chicago Dental Society Midwinter Meeting 2012
Date:1/10/2012

SOUTH BEND, Ind., Jan. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Heraeus Kulzer, LLC, the worldwide leader in dental esthetics, announced today that it will sponsor four seminars at the Chicago Dental Society Midwinter Meeting in Chicago, Illinois.

The four seminars:

A Class IV Workshop: Great Cosmetic Results With Nanotechnology Composite
Thursday, February 23, 2012, 9:00 am - noon.
Speakers: Frank Milnar, DDS and Shannon Pace-Brinker, CDA

This workshop provides significant hands-on experience with an advanced and improved nanotechnology restorative system. The Venus Diamond system addresses the functional requirements of the most demanding posterior restorations and delivers the beauty and lasting polish-ability required for anterior restorations.

Course objectives:

  • Layering implications and how to create a truly natural Class IV restoration.
  • Create restorations from a simple to a more complex polychromatic technique.
  • Material handling techniques to maximize efficient use of treatment time.
  • How to finish and polish composite to resemble natural enamel surface/gloss.

Glass Ionomer Workshop: Reducing Tooth Sensitivity Incorporating Dentin Substitution
Thursday, February 23, 1:30 – 4:30 pm
Speakers: Frank Milnar, DDS and Shannon Pace-Brinker, CDA

Developing treatment strategies for restoring teeth and eliminating sensitivity can be challenging. Dental treatments today are guided by principles of minimal intervention and bio-modification. According to these principles, the goal is to limit the repeat restorative cycle and conserve as much healthy tooth structure as possible while removing as little tooth structure as possible. Attendees will develop a better understanding of when to use glass ionomer products and how to reduce tooth sensitivity, and learn about a new flowable composite as a dentin substitute.

What Is It? How Do I Use It?
Two options: Thursday, February 23, 1:30 – 4:40 pm, or Friday, February 24, 8:30 – 11:30 am.
Speaker:  Tricia Osuna, RDH

Today's dental sessions require an exhaustive knowledge of what products, instruments and equipment are available, as well as how to utilize them.  Attendees will learn about contemporary treatment options, implementation of the procedures, and how to evaluate what is or is not working.

Course objectives:

  • Identify products in the marketplace.
  • Recognize how to implement new strategies to successfully prepare for patient conditions/therapies.
  • Design programs that enhance patient treatment and successful outcomes.

Create a Successful Contemporary Practice
Friday, February 24, 1:30 – 4:30 pm.
Speaker: Frank Milnar, DDS and Shannon Pace-Brinker, CDA

Today's successful practice requires a dental team that is knowledgeable about minimally invasive dentistry. The myriad of new materials and techniques available for patients makes it challenging for the dentist and assistant to develop new proficiencies while delivering optimal patient care. This requires an understanding of new Evidence-Based Models that result in "Responsible Esthetics" and have a higher level of combined communication with the dental team and patients.

"We are very pleased to be able to sponsor these seminars and help dental professionals sort through and make sense of the plethora of new products and techniques now available to them," said Sonny Serreno, Heraeus' Director of Scientific & Clinical Affairs.  "Attendees are sure to enjoy these wonderful speakers and find these courses to be both educational and beneficial to their practices."
