HealthONE Hospitals Partners With Visual Health Solutions and Healthline Networks to Launch BodyMaps

DENVER, Feb. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Healthline Networks and Visual Health Solutions and Denver's leading healthcare system, HealthONE, today announced a partnership to provide patients and physicians with Healthline's BodyMaps application via the HealthONE website,

BodyMaps demystifies complex aspects of health by combining Healthline's unique semantic taxonomy and Visible Health Solution's high-quality anatomical content into a unique interactive 3D experience for users to visually explore the human body, from its largest organ to its smallest bone. BodyMaps also maps thousands of anatomical and clinical terms to simple patient-friendly synonyms, making it understandable to anyone.

"We are thrilled to partner with the HealthONE system, an innovator in health education and patient engagement, to bring BodyMaps to the Healthcare Provider market where Healthline's products and expertise can help patients the most - at the point of care," said Dean Stephens , CEO of Healthline Networks.

"We [HealthONE] are excited to offer a resource like BodyMaps to not only our patients, physicians and staff, but to people around the world since it is a free resource on our website," says Dr. George Bussey , Chief Medical Officer, HCA-HealthONE. "BodyMaps allows physicians to visually walk patients through the diagnosis and treatment cycle."

BodyMaps allows patients and consumers to:

  • View more than 1,000 anatomical structures in 3D
  • Rotate parts of the body such as the eye, knee and heart
  • Navigate all layers of anatomy
  • Search using clinical terms or everyday language (for example, typing in "eardrum" will take you to an image of the tympanic membrane)

"As a Colorado company, we are very proud to partner with Colorado's leading healthcare system to provide an engaging visual health resource to HealthONE's physicians, staff, patients and their families," said Paul Baker , CEO of Visual Health Solutions.

Physicians at HealthONE agree that BodyMaps is an accurate and invaluable visualization tool to understand the human body.

One HealthONE physician compared BodyMaps' vibrant visuals to the popular cadaver exhibit: "Body Works"

Another HealthONE physician commented "If I had had something like this for neuroanatomy in med school, I might have enjoyed it more."

See for yourself: individuals researching health information for themselves a friend or family member; patients better describing what ails them when they're visiting their HealthONE physician; college students studying anatomy & physiology; journalists seeking to better explain a health condition for a related news story; parents talking to kids about the human body…the uses are infinite!
