Date:9/17/2012

RICHMOND, Va., Sept. 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Former Virginia Governor Tim Kaine, the Democratic nominee for election to the U.S. Senate, and Senator Mark Warner visited Health Diagnostic Laboratory, Inc. (HDL, Inc.) today to discuss current affairs as part of a series of employee "town hall" meetings hosted by the advanced laboratory located in the Virginia BioTechnology Research Park in Richmond. The healthcare-focused discussion comes after a similar meeting with HDL, Inc. employees in August with former Governor George Allen, Kaine's Republican opponent in the November election.

Governor Kaine and Senator Warner allotted time for a Q&A session to allow laboratory employees to voice their questions and comments regarding current political issues surrounding the healthcare industry. Before the town hall meeting, Governor Kaine and Senator Warner participated in a guided tour of HDL, Inc.

"Health Diagnostic Laboratory is in a position to see firsthand the rapid pace of change in the healthcare industry. We encourage policy makers to visit our lab and to take part in non-partisan discussions in order to realize how congressional committee decisions impact the industry," said Tonya Mallory, president and CEO of HDL, Inc.

HDL, Inc., which serves approximately 10,000 physicians and 1 million patients, will continue to invite policy makers to tour the growing laboratory as part of its non-partisan series of employee "town hall" meetings. In addition to inviting more officials in the future, HDL, Inc. welcomes all elected officials and those seeking office, to tour the laboratory and to discuss how innovation in the diagnostics industry can save lives and healthcare dollars.
