Hamilton Company Wins Switzerland's 2010 Tell Award for Manufacturing Investment in Grisons, Greater Zurich Area

ZURICH, Oct. 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Hamilton Company has been awarded a Tell Award 2010, the Greater Zurich Area AG and Hamilton announced today. Hamilton Company, the Reno, NV-based global leader in precision fluid measuring was honored with a Tell for sustained investment in the manufacturing facility of its Swiss subsidiary Hamilton Bonaduz AG, in the Canton of Grisons, Greater Zurich Area. Named after Swiss national hero Wilhelm Tell, the Awards are an annual recognition of the most important inward investment projects to Switzerland by North-American companies. The award for Hamilton underscores the appeal of the Greater Zurich Area as a location for developers and manufacturers specializing in precision technologies.

Hamilton Company has been named this year's winner of the Tell Award in the category 'most significant manufacturing investment'. Global healthcare company Abbott, the Canadian Bombardier (who opened its MITRAC Powerlab for locomotive and high power propulsion in Zurich in 2009), and life science and high-tech company Sigma-Aldrich also receive a Tell Award.

A global leader in laboratory automation and sensory technology for precision fluid measuring, Greater Zurich Area-based Hamilton Bonaduz has been developing and manufacturing precision and medical technology products in the Swiss town of Bonaduz since 1966. In 2009 Hamilton Bonaduz opened a new development and manufacturing facility, adding 150 new jobs and bringing the total number of employees to 750 today.

Named after the national hero Wilhelm Tell, the Tell Awards are an annual celebration of the most significant inward investment projects by North American companies in Switzerland. They are sponsored and organized by the Swiss Embassy in the United States and Swiss Trade and Investment Promotion (STIP).

The winners are presented with the Tell Award on October 26th in the Swiss Embassy in Washington D.C. by Switzerland's Ambassador to the U.S., H.E. Manuel Sager. Past awardees for the Greater Zurich Area have included companies such as Disney, IBM, Microsoft, and Google.

Andreas Wieland, CEO, Hamilton Bonaduz AG said: "We are very excited about receiving the Tell Award honoring our commitment to Switzerland and our investment in Grisons. The canton of Grisons is an ideal business location within the Greater Zurich Area due to an attractive tax and real estate climate while only about 80 minutes from Zurich Airport. Top-quality education at universities and research institutes in the Greater Zurich Area and the fact that our staff works in a pristinely beautiful region where others chose to spend their vacation has significantly helped our recruiting efforts over the years. The entire region is ideal for innovative companies specializing in precision technologies – and that is why we are committed to it since 1966."

Sonja Wollkopf Walt, Managing Director Greater Zurich Area AG added: "Congratulations to Hamilton Company and Hamilton Bonaduz for this well-deserved Tell Award. With the successful expansion of its manufacturing facilities in 2009, Hamilton Bonaduz has made it very clear that the business location Greater Zurich Area offers a great package to highly specialized precision technology companies and is second to none when it comes to weathering a global economic downturn."

Daniel Capaul, Manager Economic Development/Regional Marketing, Canton of Grisons: "We are very pleased with the Tell Award for Hamilton. With its sustained growth and expansion, e.g. with a recently launched online shop for its high-quality medtech products, Hamilton is a prime example of an international high-tech corporation successfully setting up manufacturing and development operations in the canton of Grisons."
