HMP Communications, LLC Adds Two Well-Recognized Brands to Healthcare Portfolio
Date:4/15/2011

MALVERN, Pa., April 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- HMP Communications, a leader in multi-media healthcare communications, has acquired two leading clinical brands: Consultant and Consultant for Pediatricians. In conjunction with the acquisition and to support the brands, HMP Communications will launch a new website, www.consultant360.com. HMP Communications is a division of HMP Holdings (www.hmpholdings.com).

The strategic acquisition significantly enhances HMP Communications' coverage of the healthcare industry. The iconic 50-year-old brands are market-leaders with large circulations in the primary care and pediatric disciplines respectively. Both were acquired from London-based United Business Media Limited; terms were not disclosed.

"We are enthused about the opportunity to extend the equity of these brands by developing and fully leveraging a robust web presence, just as we have done in each of our current brands," said Jeff Hennessy, president and CEO of HMP Holdings. "The new website will be the launch pad for a totally interactive multi-media experience for healthcare professionals visiting the site. It will provide webcasts, showcase relevant videos, link to live events, and other exclusive offerings not possible in a print only format," said Hennessy. The www.consultant360.com website is scheduled to go live in May.

HMP Communications is renowned for supporting print publications with an interactive web presence. "We expect the access to the publications via various smart phone/tablet applications will be welcomed by current subscribers and new users, and see enormous potential for www.consultant360.com to engage unique new visitors."

Consultant offers primary care practitioners authoritative, practical clinical advice from top experts in many specialties with peer-reviewed articles prepared on pre-tested topics, as well as short, quick-reading features that emphasize different approaches to diagnoses with photographs and illustrations. By focusing on the "how-to" of diagnosis and treatment of common medical problems, it is a top-ranked independent clinical journal among office-based primary care physicians, according to syndicated research studies.

Consultant for Pediatricians, the acknowledged leading clinical pediatric journal, offers primary care pediatricians practical clinical guidance on an array of childhood disorders, from the most common to the relatively rare. It includes peer-reviewed articles and extensive quick-reading features such as diagnosis and child skin care.

HMP Communications produces some of the nation's most well-respected brands across a wide spectrum of medical specialties through its four specialty divisions: Wound Care/Podiatry, Cardiovascular, Managed Care/Long-Term Care and Dermatology.

Tom O'Connor of Berkery Noyes represented the seller.

HMP Communications, LLC was founded in 1985 and has offices in Malvern, Pa., and Millstone Township, N.J. With the acquisition, seven new employees will be located in offices in Connecticut. HMP Communications is one of two operating divisions of HMP Holdings. The other is NACCME, LLC (North American Center for Continuing Medical Education).

HMP Communications is a leading, fully integrated healthcare communications company with a variety of advertising supported properties including leading medical journals, annual symposia, webcasts, sponsored customized symposia/satellites, and regional meetings.
