HDMA Statement On House Passage Of Federal Traceability Legislation
Date:6/3/2013

ARLINGTON, Va., June 3, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- HDMA President and CEO John M. Gray released the following statement on the voice-vote passage of the Safeguarding America's Pharmaceuticals Act of 2013 (H.R. 1919) by the House of Representatives:

"After nearly a decade of working to create a federal traceability standard for pharmaceuticals, HDMA is pleased by the House of Representatives vote today to pass the Safeguarding America's Pharmaceuticals Act of 2013. Eliminating the cumbersome patchwork of state requirements is a bipartisan solution that will offer the clarity the industry needs to ensure medicines are continued to be delivered safely and on time to the patients who need them. HDMA thanks Reps. Bob Latta (R-Ohio), Jim Matheson (D-Utah) for their leadership on this important issue and are hopeful that they will join with their colleagues in the Senate to send federal traceability legislation to President Obama this summer."
