H. D. Smith Names Timothy Booth Corporate VP, Home Healthcare (HHC), In First-of-its-Kind Leadership Appointment

SPRINGFIELD, Ill., Sept. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- H. D. Smith, among the nation's largest pharmaceutical wholesalers, today announced the appointment of Timothy Booth, MBA, to corporate vice president and head of its Home Healthcare Division (HHC), a fast-growing segment of the Company's customer service offerings.  Mr. Booth will report to Christopher Smith, president and Chief Operating Officer, H. D. Smith.

The home care and home health care industry is expected to grow by more than 40% during the next five years.  The importance of home care to society is substantial—and rising. A recent study published by AARP, Valuing the Invaluable: 2011 Update, The Growing Contributions and Costs of Family Caregiving, reports that more than 61 million Americans provided care to an adult family member at some point during 2009.  H. D. Smith is geared toward helping the American health system and family caregivers support the shift of patients from in-patient to home care settings.

Mr. Booth brings to H. D. Smith nearly 20 years' expertise in the pharmaceutical manufacturing, packaging and distribution industries as a corporate executive and counselor.  Most recently, he was an independent consultant providing guidance to companies in pharmaceutical industry strategy, operations, operating metrics, product
