Date:3/11/2013

SAN FRANCISCO, March 11, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Wade Johnson , JD, Shareholder at Polsinelli Shughart PC and lead council for intellectual property matters for Guardsman Scientific is presenting today at the American College of Cardiology Annual Meeting in San Francisco, CA.

A licensed engineer, patent lawyer and expert in medical technology patents, Mr. Johnson will discuss the importance of a carefully crafted intellectual property strategy as it relates to medical technologies. "The US healthcare system is facing significant challenges that can be overcome by developing and protecting new medical technologies, especially where such technologies relate to improving clinical outcomes and reducing costs", said Wade Johnson , JD. "Guardsman Scientific technology is one good example."

Guardsman's IP technology portfolio addresses the core issues associated with extended length of stay and hospital admissions related to congestive heart failure, leading to unnecessary multi-billion dollars expenses for the healthcare system.

"Wade is an engaging speaker and an expert in medical technology patent potfolio development and exploitation. He will discuss his principals for a successful IP program with a special focus on patent pitfalls every medical technology company should avoid, said Daniel P. Vezina , MD, President and CEO of Guardsman Scientific.

According to Dr. Vezina, Mr. Johnson has been critical to the successful and award winning IP program development of Guardsman over the last 6 years. "Wade's message will resonate with attendees at ACC 2013," added the CEO.
