GranuFlo and NaturaLyte Bellwether Trials to Start in January of 2016, Says

BOSTON, March 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- MT Services LLC, a Lawsuit Settlement News Reporting Company which operates, announced today that the first two bellwether trial dates have been announced in the GranuFlo and NaturaLyte multidistrict litigation (MDL). According to Drug Watch, over 1,800 cases have been consolidated into multidistrict litigation (MDL) under U.S. District Judge Douglas P. Woodlock in the District of Massachusetts. The first bellwether trial is to begin on January 11th, 2016, with the second trial to start on February 16th, 2016 (In re: Fresenius GranuFlo/NaturaLyte Dialysate Litigation, MDL No. 2428).

Fresenius Medical Care Inc. is facing lawsuits that claim the company was aware of the danger in their products yet failed to adequately warn and inform the public. Allegations also include that they did not properly train health care providers on how to use the dialysis products safely and also neglected to warn them of the potential risks. Claims have arisen that Fresenius Medical Care failed to warn dialysis clinics – outside its own Fresenius clinics – of potential Alkali Dosing Errors. GranuFlo and NaturaLyte are dialysates used in thousands of dialysis centers to treat patients with kidney disease or failure, however, the lawsuits against Fresenius Medical Care include patients who have suffered injury or even death as a result of using GranuFlo and/or NaturaLyte products during hemodialysis. Potential injuries and complications from GranuFlo and NaturaLyte products include: heart attack, cardiopulmonary arrest, stroke, and death.

Chris Janish, CEO of MTS, commented on the upcoming bellwether trials, "The GranuFlo and NaturaLyte litigation is setting up to be one of the more difficult mass tort litigations on the market. The claims against the dialysis manufacturer are very serious resulting in cardiac arrest, heart attacks, and strokes, which may have caused wrongful deaths or serious injuries in the hospital. However, Fresenius Medical Care continues to contest liability and causation and these could be tough arguments to make in front of a jury on both sides of the table. This makes this litigation very complex, with the potential of wide ranging jury verdicts and/or large settlement amounts or values in the event the parties agree to resolve the claims down the road."

MTS is ready to assist those who need lawsuit help with finding a qualified GranuFlo law firm or GranuFlo lawyer to provide a free evaluation on their specific case to see if there is eligibility for a potential large lawsuit award. In a similar type litigation, MTS reported last year that the Pradaxa litigation yielded an average settlement amount of $160K per case, although cases involving wrongful death have seen settlement values in the $500K range. MTS' legal experts believe GranuFlo cases have the potential for large awards in the event that the plaintiffs are able to prove their case in front of a jury.
