Global Med Technologies(R)' Solution of Choice for Important Regional Blood Center
Date:1/28/2010

DENVER, Jan. 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Global Med Technologies®, Inc. ("Global Med" or the "Company") (OTC Bulletin Board: GLOB), an international healthcare information technology company, today announced that its Wyndgate Technologies® division has licensed ElDorado Donor® blood management software and Donor Doc® health history questionnaire to Community Blood Center of Greater Kansas City ("CBC") of Kansas City, Missouri. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

ElDorado Donor blood management software combines system management, donor management tools, testing, manufacturing processes and distribution into one application which will allow CBC to have a reliable information stream from donation to final distribution. ElDorado Donor was developed as part of an integrated modular system specifically designed for community and hospital-based donor centers to increase efficiency and help enhance blood safety during the manufacture of blood products for transfusion.

Dr. Jay Menitove, Community Blood Center's President/CEO and Medical Director, exclaimed, "We are thrilled to begin implementing the ElDorado system. This is a major step forward in CBC's modernization course." Dr. Menitove continued, "We were challenged with the task of finding state-of-the-art donor management software that would provide a smooth migration for our staff and be configurable enough to replicate key processes in our older system. Although our current homegrown software has many outstanding features, it uses an older software platform. ElDorado Donor's feature-rich software and adaptability give us confidence in our decision to make the transition to a modern system."

Global Med's Donor Doc software will unite an electronic pre-donation health history questionnaire with ElDorado Donor's complex blood management system to help evaluate donor suitability for donation prior to processing blood products. According to the FDA's Biologics Guidance, donor questionnaires play an important role in identifying most ineligible donors(1). The primary point of questioning a donor is to make certain that the donor is in good health, the donation process is safe for the donor, and to identify risk factors for diseases transmissible by blood and blood components.

Kim Peck, MA, MT(ASCP)SBB, Vice President of Quality and Compliance for CBC stated, "Our motivation for purchasing Donor Doc was two-fold. First, it was important to us to increase the level of product safety by upgrading to an electronic questionnaire with features that help assure FDA donor eligibility regulations are being followed. Second, we wanted to improve our donor's registration experience by providing an electronic method as opposed to the old paper questionnaire.  Our donors are very enthusiastic about our decision."

Thomas F. Marcinek, President and COO of Global Med Technologies, commented, "Community Blood Center is a major contributor to the health of the people in the Midwest and an important organization in Global Med's customer base. We appreciate the confidence CBC has shown in our ability to deliver innovative products and services that meet their needs. Global Med is an international leader in cellular management solutions as a result of its ability to develop quality systems that meet today's needs and stay abreast of tomorrow's regulatory requirements."
