Gateway Genomics Achieves Milestone of 100,000 SneakPeek Early Gender DNA Tests Sold
Date:6/3/2019

Gateway Genomics, leading developer of prenatal and pediatric genetic tests, announces sales of over 100,000 SneakPeek Early Gender DNA tests as of this month. SneakPeek is the first non-invasive prenatal test (NIPT) designed solely to determine fetal sex, providing an easy way for families to learn the gender of their baby as early as 9 weeks into pregnancy. The test is available through two channels: 1) An at-home version that lets consumers self-collect a DNA blood sample from the comfort of their home and mail back to SneakPeek Labs for analysis, and 2) A clinical version through participating facilities that collects the sample through a standard blood draw and sends it to SneakPeek Labs for testing. Both options can provide gender results within 1-2 days from sample collection.

“Sales have doubled every year since the test was launched in 2015,” says Gateway Genomics CEO, Chris Jacob. “As our DNA tests become more well-known, we anticipate accelerated demand in the coming years. We’re investing in both our lab testing capacity and the team dedicated to supporting locations that offer our clinical test and expect to surpass 200,000 tests processed by early next year.”

The SneakPeek Early Gender DNA Test by Gateway Genomics is designed to specifically focus on fetal sex and return just one answer – male or female. This enables the test to be run on magnitudes smaller volumes of blood than the typical NIPT, as little as 0.5 mL. SneakPeek returns results as fast as 8 hours after receiving the sample at the lab, with 99.6% accuracy based on peer-reviewed studies.

“This milestone validates the desire new parents have to learn as much about their children as they can, to provide them with the healthiest, best lives they can have,” continues Mr. Jacob. “With this in mind, our aim in the next year is to increase access to the SneakPeek test, adding clinical locations and expanding our international reach in North America and Europe. Longer term, we are developing new product offerings that will give parents the DNA information they need to optimize the health and development of their newborns.”

Gateway Genomics was founded in 2015 on one big idea: Unlock prenatal and pediatric genetic information that gives parents the information they need to provide the best lives for their children. The company continues to develop and produce easy, accessible DNA tests that give families insight into their future children.
