CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Oct. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- GNS Healthcare, Inc., a leading provider of 'Big Data' analytical solutions to biopharma, payer, provider and government markets in the U.S. and abroad, announced today a major expansion of its senior management team, positioning the company for substantial growth in the deployment of its technology-enabled service and product offerings across the healthcare industry.  Carol McCall has been named Chief Strategy Officer and David Burke has been named Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, effective immediately.

"Breakthroughs in data generation, capture, management and analytics are changing the landscape of the healthcare industry," commented Colin Hill, CEO of GNS Healthcare.  "These individuals bring complementary expertise to GNS Healthcare that will help us scale our organization to provide for the needs of our growing list of customers."

"Carol is perhaps the leading voice in America today regarding how big data analytics can transform healthcare, and she has first-hand experience within many different organizations – payers, providers, pharmacy benefit managers, consultancies and health information policy bodies," continued Mr. Hill.  Ms. McCall served as VP of R&D at health insurance giant Humana, EVP of Managed Care Business Development at electronic health record pioneer AllScripts Healthcare Solutions and Chief Innovation Officer at Tenzing Health, a subsidiary of Vanguard Health Systems.

Ms. McCall started her career as a health actuary and has developed a unique background in healthcare innovation, predictive analytics and health services design. She launched Humana's innovations in personalized medicine and led Humana's Health Services Research Center (HSRC).  With Humana, Ms. McCall also served as Chief Information Officer and VP of Pharmacy Management.

At Tenzing Health, she merged creative analytics with human-centered design approaches to create care models that expanded on traditional notions of care, extended into communities, improved patient health and dramatically reduced costs.

Ms. McCall was a member of the National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics (NCVHS), a member of the HSRC's governing board, as advisor to the HRP Initiative Scientific Program Board and as a board member for Green Ribbon Health. She currently sits on the advisory board of Keas, a consumer health company.

"David brings proven leadership skills through his substantial experience in planning and scaling high-growth companies in healthcare and other industries," commented Mr. Hill.   Prior to joining GNS Healthcare, Mr. Burke served as CFO of healthcare analytics provider QualityMetric Incorporated, where he helped the company frame strategy and enhance execution to facilitate its rapid growth and successful acquisition by Ingenix, a $1.8 billion subsidiary of United Health Group. Prior to QualityMetric, Mr. Burke served as Director of Corporate Development of Item New Product Development, an integrated design, engineering and contract supply company. During his tenure the firm achieved breakout growth while evolving into a holding company with market-specialized subsidiaries, including the successful launch of medical device subsidiary, Ximedica.  Mr. Burke also has a background in senior housing, including the development of large scale independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing and cognitive care facilities.
