GHX Enhancements to My Exchange Improve Supply Chain Visibility and the Customer Experience
Date:8/6/2012

LOUISVILLE, Colo., Aug. 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- As healthcare providers seek to reduce costs and improve visibility, they can take advantage of the latest enhancements to GHX My Exchange to manage their supply chain more effectively. These enhancements help improve the customer experience and increase the ease with which hospitals can conduct their purchasing electronically, helping them achieve greater cost savings and efficiencies.

My Exchange is the common platform where more than 22,000 provider facilities and 10,000 supplier divisions are able to conduct business electronically and access their organizations' transactional data. Through My Exchange, organizations get access to real-time supply chain data as well as the tools for viewing, managing and reporting on it. My Exchange also makes it easy for hospitals to initiate new trading partner connections and provides visibility into electronic transactions and trading partner activity.

"The GHX Global Network—our community of trading partners—is the largest healthcare supply chain network in the world," said Derek Smith, executive vice president, Marketing and Product Management, GHX. "We want to make it easier for this community to transact through the Exchange because all of these organizations benefit from increased automation and electronic purchasing."

GHX continues to focus on the development of technology solutions that increase connectivity and utilization. Tools such as MetaTrade and Order Center enable hospitals to work electronically with suppliers that do not have an electronic data interchange (EDI) infrastructure and with whom they would otherwise only be able to place orders manually. Through a combination of connectivity solutions, some healthcare organizations are transacting business with as many as 600 electronic trading partners via GHX.

In addition to infrastructure enhancements that improve performance and speed, users can take advantage of new features and functionality that simplify management and streamline processes, helping save both time and money. These include:

  • New "Arrived at GHX" status for all orders, including MetaTrade orders, indicates when an order has arrived at GHX and automatically updates to "Waiting for Response" once it has been received by the designated trading partner.
  • MetaTrade orders now have a visual indicator that distinguishes them from standard "integrated" orders in the Quick Click Reports view. Providers can view a PDF file of the MetaTrade order, giving them visibility into what their partners see when receiving an order via fax or email. Enhanced filtering capabilities also enable users to filter and report on orders received through all channels, including MetaTrade.
  • In Order Center's Elective Window, which was previously a view-only screen, users can now flag, summarize and resolve exceptions. This improves communications between buyers and managers and ultimately helps speed resolution.
  • In addition to an updated user interface that's consistent with Order Center, AP Center now enables users to export all Click Quick Reports to Microsoft Excel, making it easier to manage and share reports. It also features a new "Invoice Received Date" field that shows when GHX received an invoice.
  • For providers using GHX-managed tables to map internal customer values (i.e., vendor ID and business unit) to GHX consumable identifiers (i.e. ship-to account number), it's now faster and easier to register MMIS values with dynamic mapping now in Registration Center. The tool includes four new fields that allow users to enter MMIS values directly into Registration Center, without intervention from GHX Support.

To learn more about these My Exchange enhancements, visit GHX booth #401 during the AHRMM12 Annual Conference, August 5 – 8, in San Antonio, Texas.
