Frost & Sullivan: mHealth Serves as the Catalyst for Healthcare's Evolution
Date:6/13/2013

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., June 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The market for mobile health (mHealth) products and services is an important area, serving as a catalyst for healthcare's evolution to dramatically alter care delivery and the patient experience.  In the health system of the future, patient care will be greatly enhanced by a connected and seamless information flow between patients and other stakeholders, with mobility being a core need for all users of health information.  With a growing ocean of mHealth applications, scalability, sustainability, security, and interoperability are some of many vital points that developers must continue to address.

To elucidate these uncertainties and opportunities, Frost & Sullivan's North America Healthcare Director Daniel Ruppar (@DanielRuppar) moderates the "What's Next for mHealth?" panel discussion at the 10th Annual Healthcare Unbound Conference & Exhibition (http://tcbi.org/hcub13/), taking place July 11-12, 2013 in Denver, Colo.  The panel will explore some of the ways mHealth is transforming healthcare and also tackle some of the serious questions, offering insight and solutions for those facing mHealth's distinct challenges.

mHealth provides new ways for patients to engage in their health, beyond those interested in the "quantified self," shifting the focus in healthcare from treatment to wellness. Due to these shifts, the healthcare industry has the unique chance to harness this opportunity to create positive change.

"mHealth is a critical conduit in healthcare's transformation," said Ruppar. "From the smartphone to beyond, mobility is a critical component in solution design for health technologies and applications to yield engagement and access while also enabling better outcomes and costs. However, to achieve this, mHealth must be fully integrated, not only into the physician workflow, but into the daily lives of us all."

There is the argument that regulations and restrictions could impede innovation, as the freedom of the market has fostered the rapidity of modernization in mHealth technology. Additionally, other hurdles exist for developers, such as achieving adoption and sustained use of mobile apps, where users from physicians to patients need to better understand which apps can make a real difference, and which are just noise.

The Healthcare Unbound Conference will evaluate networks as well as platforms and applications of consumer engagement and behavior change, while also providing a special focus on remote monitoring, home telehealth, eHealth, social media and gaming for managing diseases, promoting wellness, and facilitating accountable care.

The partnership with the Healthcare Unbound Conference & Exhibition is part of the Connected Health Growth Partnership Service program.  Learn more about the event via Twitter @hcub13.  You can also connect with Frost & Sullivan on social media, including Twitter, Facebook, SlideShare, and LinkedIn, for the latest news and updates.
