Finesse Solutions Launches Next Generation G3Lab Universal SmartControllers to Enhance Productivity in Bench Scale Cell Culture and Fermentation
Date:6/5/2013

SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Finesse Solutions, Inc., a manufacturer of measurement and control solutions for life sciences process applications, announced the launch of its new G3Lab Universal™ SmartControllers for upstream cell culture and fermentation.

These SmartControllers are designed to not only work with stirred-tank glass vessels from most major manufacturers, but also stirred-tank single-use vessels and rockers.  They offer single-use sensors for pH and dissolved oxygen as well as traditional electrochemical ones and standard sensors for temperature and foam/level.  They also have a significant amount of spare input/output capacity for peripheral devices such as pumps or scales for more sophisticated perfusion processes.

Each G3Lab Universal controller leverages Finesse's new SmartParts components.  The utility tower has a standard set of four peristaltic SmartPumps, a SmartMotor driver and SmartTransmitters for TruFluor or electrochemical sensors.  Up to six gases can be controlled using SmartMFCs in a compact gas manifold.  The new packaging also further reduces the footprint of each unit in order optimize lab bench utilitization.

Dr. Barbara Paldus , CEO of Finesse stated that "G3Lab Universal SmartControllers represent a paradigm shift in building a research or process development laboratory, because each SmartController represents a bio-processing point rather than a specific bioreactor vessel.  The laboratory can be easily re-configured for different process platforms in different groupings with a minimal capital investment.  Because all the SmartControllers can be networked into a single-use data historian, they represent a step forward in asset optimization and R&D data management."
