COLUMBIA, Md., June 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Eurotech, a leading supplier of embedded technologies, products, and systems, today announces a 1.5 Million USD contract to supply embedded computers to a medical original equipment manufacturer (OEM) that specializes in diagnostics and information technology solutions. The customer chose Eurotech to upgrade its existing products to a newer, high-value single board computer extending the lifecycle of these products using this ARM technology.  Used to test for diseases in just minutes, these products connect to a laboratory information management system that collects all results into an electronic medical record.

The Sphere II is a full-featured single board computer with CAN Bus, robust I/O, storage, and versatility features. Based on the Cirrus EP9315 ARM9 RISC-based processor, Sphere II provides the platform for a high performance system with very low power consumption. It features rich graphics to XGA with comprehensive on-board I/O including three serial ports, Ethernet 10/100baseT, USB host and an AC97 stereo codec, all in a small form factor that can operate without fans or heatsinks.

"With the breadth of Sphere II features and performance, medical OEMS can quickly capitalize on their product development efforts to earn additional revenue from proven product lines," explained Greg Nicoloso, Chief Executive Officer of Eurotech Inc. "Eurotech offers multiple hardware solutions, including both ARM and Intel Atom embedded computers, as well as software options and customization to facilitate our customers' success."
