Date:11/10/2011

CINCINNATI, Nov. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Inc. (EES) today announces U.S. FDA 510(k) clearance of their innovative ENSEAL® G2 Curved and Straight Tissue Sealers line to expand surgeons' options for achieving strong vessel seals while remaining gentle on tissue in both open and minimally invasive surgery.  This line of eight new tissue sealer devices include four shaft lengths and options for curved and straight jaws to meet each unique surgical need.  Along with ENSEAL® G2 Super Jaw, the ENSEAL® G2 Tissue Sealer line provides surgeons with the broadest portfolio of advanced bipolar tissue sealers to provide more options in both open and minimally invasive surgical procedures such as colorectal, gynecological and general surgery. "For me, it's about having confidence in a reliable seal, while being gentle on tissue. I get both with ENSEAL® technology," says Dr. James Kondrup, M.D., F.A.C.O.G., A.C.G.E, and Assistant Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Upstate Medical College in Syracuse, New York (Binghamton, NY campus). "I get uniform compression throughout the entire length of the jaws of the instrument, while at the same time I get minimal lateral spread of the energy, which is extremely important around vital structures."

The entire ENSEAL® G2 Tissue Sealer line is designed for superior tissue sealing by providing uniform compression, controlling temperature and minimizing thermal spread.
