Emerson Ecologics Opens Distribution Center Near Richmond, Virginia, Significantly Increasing Capacity
Date:8/24/2011

r us to expand the eastern distribution center. This new facility doubles our Eastern US distribution capacity, which is essential in supporting our future growth."

All Bedford distribution center employees were offered a position at the new facility, half of them transferring to Virginia. Emerson partnered with the Virginia Department of Business Assistance and participated in the Virginia Jobs Investment Program, which provided recruitment and training assistance.

The move was carefully planned from a logistics, inventory and personnel perspective to minimize impact on customers and fulfill delivery commitments. As all Emerson facilities are cGMP compliant, strict measures were taken to ensure product quality standards were upheld throughout the transition to the new site.

"Our entire team delivered a remarkable effort in orchestrating this move in an organized and professional manner," continued Greenawalt. "And we are thrilled that so many of our Bedford employees transferred to Virginia. They bring with them the Emerson culture, as well as their knowledge of our customers and processes, which has been critical in the transition to the new facility."
