Michael Arthur, Vice Chancellor of the University of Leeds, Chair of the Russell Group and Chair of the jury, co-presented the awards with Ron Mobed, Elsevier's CEO Science & Technology. "A part of the UK's strength in research is the ability of universities to attract and train excellent researchers," said Arthur. "We are very pleased that Elsevier has joined us in supporting researchers to further their careers." said Penny Egan, Executive Director of the US- UK Fulbright Commission. "These awards are not just meant to acknowledge the outstanding performance of the young winners, but should also be seen as confirmation of their ability to succeed in their chosen field." Elsevier has hosted Scopus Young Researcher Awards around the world with various partner organizations since 1995, in a concerted effort to support the growth and development of research talent globally.
