AMSTERDAM, October 27, 2010 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --

- Tribute Website Provides Laureate Research on In-Vitro Fertilization, Revolutionary Processes in Physics and Chemistry, and Labor and Housing Market Theory

Elsevier, the leading scientific, technical and medical publisher announced today the launch of a Nobel tribute website (http://www.elsevier.com/nobel) to honor nine 2010 Nobel laureates and provide free access to their research published by Elsevier. The 2010 Laureates will be honored at the Nobel Prize Ceremony on December 10 in Stockholm.

"For more than half a century, the vast majority of Nobel Laureates have published in Elsevier journals and books and served as editors and editorial board members," said Youngsuk 'Y.S.' Chi, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Science & Technology for Elsevier. "We feel privileged to have had the opportunity to work with these remarkable scientists in the publication of their research."

Elsevier has published research from all nine researchers honored from the fields of medicine, physics, chemistry and Economics. The freely available research published by the Nobel Laureates with Elsevier is available at http://www.elsevier.com/nobel. Elsevier salutes these scholars, and is proud to recognize their revolutionary research and contribution to society:

Medicine: Robert Edwards was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for the development of human in vitro fertilization (IVF) therapy. His achievements have made it possible to treat infertility, a medical condition affecting more than 10 percent of all couples worldwide. Dr. Edwards, who is now professor emeritus at the University of Cambridge, founded the journal Reproductive BioMedicine Online ( http://www.rbmojournal.com/ ) in 2000 and published it independently for 10 years. Having developed it and ensured its place among the leading journals in the field of reproductive medicine, he began handing over the reins for the journal in 2009, becoming Editor Emeritus of RBMOnline. In 2010 Elsevier became the publisher of this innovative journal.

Physics: Andrew Geim and Konstantin Novoselov shared the Nobel Prize in Physics "for groundbreaking experiments regarding the two-dimensional material graphene." Geim, Professor of Physics and Royal Society 2010 Anniversary Research Professor at the University of Manchester, is an Advisory Board member to Physica E: Low-dimensional Systems and Nanostructures ( http://www.elsevier.com/wps/find/journaldescription.cws_home/600554/descripti on#description ) and former Editorial Board member. Both have published many of their own papers with Elsevier, and Geim has served as guest editor, organizing several topical issues on graphene for Solid State Communications (http://www.elsevier.com/wps/find/journaldescription.cws_home/230/description #description).

Chemistry: Richard F. Heck, Ei-ichi Negishi and Akira Suzuki were awarded the 2010 Nobel Prize in Chemistry "for palladium-catalyzed cross couplings in organic synthesis." Heck, Professor at the University of Delaware, has published in Inorganica Chimica Acta ( http://www.elsevier.com/locate/ica), the Journal of Organometallic Chemistry (http://www.elsevier.com/locate/inca/504090) and Tetrahedron Letters (http://www.elsevier.com/wps/find/journaldescription.cws_home/233/description #description). Negishi, Professor at Purdue University in Indiana, has published in Heterocycles, Inorganica Chimica Acta ( http://www.elsevier.com/locate/ica), the Journal of Molecular Catalysis A: Chemical (http://www.elsevier.com/locate/molcata), the Journal of Organometallic Chemistry (http://www.elsevier.com/locate/inca/504090), Polyhedron (http://www.elsevier.com/locate/poly), Tetrahedron ( http://www.elsevier.com/locate/tet), Tetrahedron Asymmetry ( http://www.elsevier.com/locate/tetasy) and Tetrahedron Letters (http://www.elsevier.com/locate/tetlet).

Suzuki, Professor at Hokkaido University published one of his first papers (http://www.tinyurl.com/2b8k28m) on Pd coupling in Tetrahedron Letters (http://www.elsevier.com/locate/tetlet). He has also published in the Journal of Organometallic Chemistry ( http://www.elsevier.com/locate/inca/504090) and Tetrahedron ( http://www.elsevier.com/locate/tet).

Economics: The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel was awarded jointly to Peter A. Diamond, Dale T. Mortensen and Christopher A. Pissarides "for their analysis of markets with search frictions." Their models help us understand the ways in which unemployment, job vacancies and wages are affected by regulation and economic policy. Besides publishing many of their own papers with Elsevier, Dale Mortensen serves as an Advisory Board member for Review of Economic Dynamics (http://www.elsevier.com/locate/red )and Peter Diamond is an Advisory Board member for the Journal of Public Economics ( http://www.elsevier.com/locate/jpube).
