En cirkulär ekonomi kräver innovationer inom områdena material, komponenter och återanvändning av produkter samt relaterade affärsmodeller. Genom att använda material på ett effektivt sätt kommer ekonomisk tillväxt så småningom att frikopplas från användningen av naturresurser och ekosystem. I en sådan ekonomi gör mindre användning av råvaror att vi kan skapa mer värde."

På toppmötet hölls sammankomster med världsledande företagsledare och yrkesverksamma, däribland professor dr Michael Braungart och William McDonough (medförfattare till Cradle to Cradle), Jeremy Oppenheim (Principal, McKinsey & Company), Walter Stahel (medlem i Romklubben och medgrundare av Product life Institute) och Carlos Tavares (COO Renault Group).
