Eine in European Radiology veröffentlichte Studie untermauert den Nutzen von Hologics Brust-Tomosynthese beim Screening bei Verfahren mit Zweitbefundung

Die Forscher haben Hologics Tomosynthese-Technologie zur Brustkrebsvorsorge eingesetzt und folgendes festgestellt:

  • Das Screening mit Tomosynthese konnte in einer umfangreichen prospektiven Studie erfolgreich eingesetzt werden.
  • Die Zweitbefundung der Tomosynthese-Untersuchungen hat die Zahl der falsch positiven Befunde erheblich gesenkt. Beim Einsatz von 2D-Untersuchung plus Tomosynthese sanken die falsch positiven Befunde um 18 %.
  • Durch die Zweitbefundung der Tomosynthese-Untersuchungen stieg die Erkennung von Brustkrebserkrankungen um etwa 30 %. Die Erkennung invasiver Krebserkrankungen stieg um etwa 40 %.
  • „Es ist sehr ermutigend, wenn auch nicht überraschend, dass der große Nutzen unserer Tomosynthese-Technologie für Anwender aus verschiedenen klinischen Bereichen bestätigt wurde", sagte Peter Soltani , Senior-Vizepräsident und Geschäftsführer für Brustgesundheit bei Hologic. „Die Daten aus Oslo zeigen deutlich, dass – im Vergleich zur Zweitbefundung von 2D-Ergebnissen allein – die Zweitbefundung von 2D-Untersuchungen in Verbindung mit der Bildgebung der Tomosynthese die Erkennung invasiver Krebserkrankungen erheblich verbessert und falsch positive Befunde senkt. Dieses Ergebnis bestätigt eine vorhergehende Studie zur Messung des Nutzens der Tomosynthese für den Einzelbefunder und zeigt, dass die Tomosynthese sowohl für Krebsvorsorgeuntersuchungen mit Einzelbefundung als auch für Methoden mit Zweitbefundung wichtige Verbesserungen erzielt. Wir glauben, dass die Brust-Tomosynthese von Hologic entscheidend dazu beitragen kann, die Grenzen der konventionellen Mammographie, nämlich unerkannte Krebserkrankungen und unnötige Recalls, zu überwinden.
