Educational Video Series Released for American Diabetes Month

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla., Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- This week begins American Diabetes Month® - a time devoted to diabetes awareness and education that coincides with the launch of a new campaign by the American Diabetes Association called StopDiabetes(SM).

The American Diabetes Association and one of its National Strategic Partners, Liberty Medical Supply, Inc., have posted a collection of online educational videos to give diabetes patients practical tips and advice for living with the disease and avoiding its serious complications. The videos are available for viewing on www.stopdiabetes.com in the "learn" section and http://www.libertymedical.com/press/. Topics covered include symptoms and risks of diabetes, weight management tips, exercise tips, an overview of insulin delivery methods, tips on caring for a parent, and understanding the ABCs of diabetes - A1C, blood pressure, and cholesterol measurements.

According to the American Diabetes Association, diabetes has reached epidemic proportions with nearly 24 million children and adults currently living with diabetes and another 57 million Americans with pre-diabetes. The disease leads to life-threatening complications such as heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, blindness and amputation.

The Internet video collection features Dr. Sue Kirkman, vice president of Clinical Affairs of the American Diabetes Association. It is sponsored and produced by Liberty Medical, a Medco Health Solutions, Inc. (NYSE: MHS) company.
