First Quarter 2012 Financial ResultsEcho's net loss for the first quarter of 2012 was $3.0 million, or ($0.08) per share, compared to $6.6 million, or ($0.20) per share, for the first quarter of 2011.  Operating loss for the first quarter of 2012 was $3.2 million compared to $1.6 million for the first quarter of 2011.  Research and development expenses were $1.4 million for the first quarter of 2012 compared to $0.9 million in the prior year.  The increase in research and development expenses are primarily related to increased manufacturing, development and clinical expenses, as well as personnel costs.  General and administration expenses were $1.9 million for the first quarter of 2012 versus $0.9 million in the prior year.  The increase in general and administrative expenses was primarily due to increased personnel and facility costs, as well as legal and other Nasdaq and public company expenses.
