EAACI presenta el Atlas mundial del asma

a Europea de Alergia e Inmunología Clínica (EAACI, por sus siglas en inglés) ha decidido publicar un "Atlas mundial del asma". Dicho atlas tiene por objeto proporcionar una plataforma de planificación estratégica para el asma desde diversos aspectos con el fin de adoptar un planteamiento integral de investigación, formación y políticas internacionales. Su finalidad consiste en recabar datos que llamen la atención sobre la relevancia del asma, lograr para esta enfermedad un mayor reconocimiento de alta prioridad para las estrategias sanitarias nacionales, demostrar la necesidad de incrementar la investigación, evaluar las mejores formas de prevenir y controlar la enfermedad, orientar sobre cómo superar los obstáculos y alertar a las instancias políticas para garantizar un planteamiento verdaderamente mundial en torno a esta enfermedad.

El "Atlas mundial del asma" ha sido elaborado por un grupo internacional de 80 líderes de opinión en el ámbito del asma, e incluye 147 ilustraciones y 46 tablas.

El prof. Cezmi Akdis, presidente de EAACI, afirma que el "Atlas" se convertirá en fuente de consulta esencial para uso de diversos sectores, y abarcará todos los aspectos del asma, desde la epidemiología, los mecanismos y los factores de riesgo y protectores, hasta el tratamiento, la prevención y el control. Constituirá un recurso pedagógico para estudiantes de medicina, médicos de atención primaria, otros profesionales sanitarios, organizaciones de pacientes, autoridades políticas, industria farmacéutica, así como especialistas en asma y en otras comorbilidades.

El Atlas mundial del asma se presentará durante el Congreso Mundial de Asma y Alergia 2013 de la EAACI - WAO que tendrá lugar del 22 al 26 de junio de 2013 en Milán.
