Daniels Jumps to No. 2 in Medical Waste Disposal Industry
Date:6/24/2011

rps and pharmaceutical waste.

"We manage the removal of the containers and medical waste and handle the disposal in a safe and environmentally sound manner," Skinner said. "The fact that the sanitized containers can be reused adds to the environmental benefit. By the time the emptied sharps containers and other medical waste are compacted for landfill disposal, it's safer than the waste you would generate in your home."

Daniels launched its Sharpsmart system in 1999 and has the most widely researched sharps containment system in the world, the only system to have peer-reviewed confirmation of sharps injury reduction and the only system in which all container models meet the tests required by the European Agreement (AFG) on Transport of Dangerous Goods.

A recent article published in the American Journal of Infection Control reported an 81 percent reduction in container-associated sharps injuries that occurred in a group of 14 hospitals using Daniels Sharpsmart containers over one year. The company's innovative Sharpsmart system is used in several thousand health care facilities in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
