CryoPen, Inc. Participates in Marketplace at the Investing In Our Future at the U.S. - Africa Leaders Summit in Washington, DC

DALLAS, Aug. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of the Investing In Our Future at the U.S. – Africa Leaders Summit hosted by First Lady Mrs. Michelle Obama and former First Lady Mrs. Laura Bush, Cryopen, Inc. participated in a Summit Marketplace on August 6, and presented the CryoPen® Cryosurgical System for Cervical Cancer Treatment to U.S. and African First Ladies and Summit guests. CryoPen, Inc. was part of a select group of companies and organizations chosen to participate in the Marketplace whose work is supporting women and girls in Africa.

The Cryopen® Cryosurgical System for Cervical Cancer Treatment is a unique solution for sub-Saharan Africa where cervical cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer mortality. When cervical abnormalities are detected, cryosurgery is one of the best and most convenient treatment modalities. In sub-Saharan Africa, availability of cryogenic gases for classic cryosurgery is poor. The CryoPen® Cryosurgical System for Cervical Cancer Treatment can make a difference in areas that are underserved by gas delivery. The CryoPen does not require any cryogenic gases, only electricity or battery power. The CryoPen has been approved by the U.S. FDA for use on CIN 1, 2 and 3 lesions. These lesions are the most common cervical abnormalities detected before invasive cancer spreads. The CryoPen is simple and safe to use for any level of medical provider.

With encouragement from the U.S. National Cancer Institute, the George W. Bush Institute's Pink Ribbon Red Ribbon initiative and other leaders, CryoPen is refining the current system to more effectively address the needs of cervical cancer treatment in sub-Saharan Africa. Greater access to cryotherapy treatments could mean fewer deaths from cervical cancer. The CryoPen® Cryosurgical System for Cervical Cancer Treatment offers the ability to provide cervical cryosurgery treatments in underserved nations, potentially saving tens of thousands of lives where the incidence and mortality due to cervical cancer is high.
