CryoLife anuncia el primer implante europeo del injerto HeRO

ATLANTA, 31 de julio de 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- CryoLife, Inc. (NYSE: CRY), una compañía líder de dispositivos médicos y procesamiento de tejidos centrada en la cirugía cardiaca y vascular, anunció hoy la realización del primer implante clínico europeo de la compañía de injerto HeRO (Hemodialysis Reliable Outflow) en el University of Leuven Hospital de Bélgica. El procedimiento fue realizado por medio del profesor Inge Fourneau, cirujano vascular, y del profesor Sam Heye, radiólogo intervencional.

El profesor Fourneau y el profesor Heye comentaron: "Es emocionante ser el primer hospital en Europa en ofrecer los innovadores beneficios del injerto HeRO a los pacientes con diálisis y con enfermedad renal en fase final en nuestra comunidad local. Basándose en los resultados clínicos hasta la fecha en Estados Unidos, creemos que el injerto HeRO reducirá la tasa de infección en comparación con los catéteres de diálisis tunelados y que mejorará la calidad de vida".

CryoLife recibió la Marca CE para el injerto HeRO en junio de 2013. El profesor Fourneau y el profesor Heye colaborarán con el equipo de nefrología de la University of Leuven. CryoLife espera realizar la introducción de mercado controlada del injerto HeRO en la segunda mitad del año 2013, seguida de un lanzamiento europeo más amplio en el año 2014.
