Date:7/23/2014

SAN DIEGO, July 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- RT Oncology Services Corporation today announced that Craig Mundie has agreed to join its board of directors. Mr. Mundie is currently senior advisor to the CEO of Microsoft Corporation, where he works on strategic projects within the company and on technology strategy and policy. Previously, he was Microsoft's chief research and strategy officer.

Mike Martin, president and chief executive officer of RainTree, said, "Craig is a visionary technology executive. His appointment is part of our ongoing expansion from a GPO into the premier data informatics platform for community oncologists. Through our new strategic partnership with Express Scripts and our growing suite of RainTree Analytics products, we are creating an automated National Oncology Medical Home that will enable better care at lower costs. Craig's talent and experience will be invaluable as we help to take patient care and practice performance in community oncology to the next level."

Bruce J. Gould, MD, chairman of the RainTree Advisory Board, said, "Craig's addition to the RainTree board of directors is great news for physicians and patients within the network. He will help to guide the creation of innovative technology infrastructure for RainTree's best-in-class analytics platform, which transforms clinical oncology data into actionable information. I firmly believe that, with Craig's expertise, these clinical support and practice management tools can revolutionize community oncology."

Mr. Mundie said, "Nowhere is innovation more vital than in the field of healthcare, and RainTree is doing ground-breaking work at the intersection of technology and oncology. The member network of community oncology practices will very shortly be able to leverage critically important data with the power to elevate the patient experience and, ultimately, improve outcomes. I am very excited to be joining the team."

Mr. Mundie has spent his career building startups in various fields, including supercomputing, consumer electronics, education, robotics and healthcare. As Microsoft's chief research and strategy officer, he oversaw Microsoft Research, one of the world's largest computer-science research organizations, and was responsible for Microsoft's long-term technology strategy, directing a number of technology incubations. Mr. Mundie has also served as Microsoft's chief technical officer for advanced strategies and policy. He joined Microsoft in 1992 to develop non-PC software platform technologies.

For more than a decade, Mr. Mundie has also been Microsoft's principal technology-policy liaison to the U.S. and foreign governments, with an emphasis on China, India and Russia. He has served on the U.S. National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee and the Markle Foundation Task Force on National Security in the Information Age. In April 2009, Mr. Mundie was appointed by President Barack Obama to the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.
