Consulting Radiologists, Ltd. Announces Addition of a Low Dose Advanced Computed Tomography (CT) System

MINNEAPOLIS, July 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Consulting Radiologists, Ltd. (CRL) has invested in a low-dose, state-of-the-art CT machine with ASiR technology, the first of its kind in Minnesota.  This advanced diagnostic system will help physicians reach confident diagnoses and provide a higher level of patient care with a radiation dose up to 40% lower than conventional techniques without sacrificing image quality.

"The addition of the GE Healthcare Brightspeed Elite CT with ASiR technology complements and extends the range of quality diagnostic services that CRL currently offers residents of the Twin Cities," says Dr. Parker, Body Imager and Diagnostic Radiologist.

ASiR (Adaptive Statistical Iterative Reconstruction) is a new, advanced image reconstruction technique that makes it possible to dramatically reduce the radiation dose to patients by up to 40 percent without compromising the quality of the image.  "This is especially beneficial for children and young adults who are more susceptible to the possible harmful effects of low radiation exposures."

The Brightspeed Elite CT with ASiR technology also provides new in-depth brain imaging techniques that make these tests more reliable and enable doctors to have more confidence in their diagnosis," explains Dr. Parker.

CT, or computed tomography technology, is the diagnostic exam of choice when people are ill or injured, or when a physician suspects a medical problem that is not easily detectable with a conventional physical examination.
